About NiceTranslator
NiceTranslator was created during the Fall of 2008 to provide an improved interface for translating text on the Web. Although web-technologies have advanced greatly recently, existing online translators remain cumbersome to use.
Thanks to the Google Translation API, we were able to focus on designing a simple and functional online translator, unlike any other to date.
We will continue to develop NiceTranslator over the coming months but will not stray from our initial purpose of providing an easy to use and straightforward online translator.

December 11th, 2008
i tried to translate from greek into romanian but it does not work at all. it gives really weird translations.are you going to fix this somehow?
December 11th, 2008
I tried the phrase “our friends brought food”… the translator failed to include any verb – even a wrong one – in French, in Spanish, and in Catalan. I also tried translating the first sentence of the Gettysburg address into French: the translator failed to conjugate “brought forth”, even though the subject (”fathers”) clearly is a plural.

Muy buena la herramienta. Lackfer® Saludos.!

This is a nice tool… Nice GUI, nice concept… kudos to the team!!! http://simplejuice.blogspot.com/
December 13th, 2008
The language auto-detect and the instantaneous translation are great features, but in order for it to be more useful than google translate I think you should include a way of translating longer texts (also multiple paragraphs).
December 13th, 2008
The pluggable/multiple translators is a brilliant and the AJAX auto-translate is really cool…
December 13th, 2008
Bug #1: When you translate the sentence: I play baseball. The translator returns: I jugar béisbol. Correct Version: Jugo béisbol. NOTE: This error applies to all sports and subject pronouns (ie. I play, You play, He plays, She plays, We play, etc.). Here are the proper forms of the verb jugar for each of the subject pronouns: I (Yo) – jugo You (Tu) – jugas He (El), She (Ella), They (Usted) – juga We (nosotros) – jugamos Plural: He (Ellos), She (Ellas), They (Ustedes) – jugan

The best traslator I have ever used. Extremely easy to use. Usually a fluent traslation. Few little mistakes.

Good service, but not entirely convenient to use. I suggest official support in Opera.
December 14th, 2008
I like this translator a lot. Great site !! And it is so easy to use. Thank you
December 14th, 2008
If it could remember what languages stuff should be translated into, that would make it much faster and easier to use. Like I use French and Russian quite frequently and if it could load with those 2 languages already set, that would make my life just a little bit easier. But other than that, REALLY great job! Tumble Reply: As long as you have cookies enabled, Nice Translator should work exactly as you describe! Enjoy
December 14th, 2008
I cannot figure out how to make this site do anything! Typing in the upper box just causes the same thing to appear in the lower box. Which is supposed to contain the from language and which the to language? I find the interface to be totally opaque.
December 15th, 2008
Great Tools … thanks for your hard work
December 15th, 2008
Bummer! Still can only see the front drop down list which contains no Swedish. Bummer!

The program is translating “I brushed my teeth” to “I cepillado los dientes” in Spanish. The program may need a little work with reflexive verbs in Spanish. Backwards translation works just fine.

I have never seen such “incremental translation” before. Very good job!

I am a physician and have been studying spanish for two years. some of my hispanic health professionals have helped me in my attempt to prepare a questionaire for my hispanic patients. Your source has taken me to another level and provides me immediate responses. now I am not so frustrated in conversing with my spanish speaking patients and using your source has allowed me to begin developing a questionaire geered to my specialty.

December 18th, 2008
The best translator that I ever see=)
December 18th, 2008
Many of my friends communicate via MSN and other Instant Messaging (IM) applications. Often with online friends in foreign countries. For example, during a vacation, my Dutch neighbour fell in love with a Brazilian girl, and they chatted every day, until they could meet again. This was very difficult, because they did not know a common language. Many, many people are in similar situations. It would be great if one could type in a chat box of their preferred IM application, and the text would appear simultaneously in the source and target languages.
December 18th, 2008
What I mean is can you allow this: http://www.nicetranslator.com/?translate=sentence%20to%20be%20translated This would allow FF users etc. to add a quicksearch keyword so that they could just type a short phrase into the address bar. You can learn more about keywords at: http://lifehacker.com/software/bookmarks/hack-attack-firefox-and-the-art-of-keyword-bookmarking-196779.php Adding this feature makes it a quick type and click operation for those of us with good typing skills

Trying to translate Arabic text I notice that the translation I get for several examples is not correct; the text is always an inverted one. The cause is that the writing in arabic is different from the English one. I hope that this situation would be improved in the future.

This could be very helpful for those who are reading Chinese, but want to translate it into a text language so that they can communicate with others who speak this language. Again, great site! -) Love the program!

I live in Spain after three months and speak and write only a little Spanish, I speak four other languages. The Spanish is more difficult than I thought, and it will probably take a while before I can speak the language and reading. Nice Translator with my communication problems are solved, I take my laptop to where I should explain, type my questions in my native language in this gives me the correct meaning in Spanish. I leave the answer to enter the Spanish person and I can read in my mother tongue. Just genius. This should be a price for the worlds peace. Many misunderstandings can be removed if people can communicate in all languages. This text I have from my native Dutch to English translation and I have almost no errors are detected. The developers deserve an award. With thanks and great respect.

Hi, I suggest you to transform the input field for the text to be translated from the line as now it is, to a box with more lines (also with a smaller character and a maximum of characters, up to you) in order to see all the text and not be forced to move from one part to the other of the text itself. You can of corse reduce the characters in order to display all the texts (original and translated). Best regards Renato

Hey NiceTranslator Dev. Team, This is one of the best translators so far but i still the gramma, would it not be an idea to send a request out the world, where people could some gramma corrections, fx in germany there are a lot of gramma rules, but when when you know them, the language becomes quite easy, i know it will take a while but then the site will be perfect. Just an idea.

Nice work!
January 16th, 2009
When used to only translate one word at a time it works great. (I am trying to translate from English to Dutch ) When used to translate a whole sentence the grammar in Dutch is totally off and would create a hillarious situation for some one I would e mail this too. Lucky I speak Dutch. Like I said before, to just translate a word here or there this would work out fine.
January 16th, 2009
This is so useful. I work with several people from different countries and trying to explain something can be frustrating. I am using this to type out my messages, then paste it to their email..in their own language! What a great tool. Thank you very much!

When choosing more than 2 languages at the same time, the bottom banner hides the response. Would it be feasible to move the banner, or to allow us to move it by drag en drop? Anyway : this application is GREAT !

A friend, also of Dutch origins, brought this site to my attention. I just wrote a note to my friends in The Netherlands…will they be surprised! I saw no way to email the note direct, which would have been very nice. Also I was not aware that there was a limitation on lenth, thus lost a good portion of my letter. Then I looked for a way to bring back up the missing portion in English so I could re-enter it as the second portion, translated to Dutch. But not to complain..I had fun! Paul H.

Please add some more synonyms/meanings for translated words – it is very common that a word has more different meanings in other language. It also helps to understand the proper meaning of the word. I understand that it would need some hard work on the database part but it would be great and apreciated if you could incorporate this. Thanks, Peter.

I have a class of middle school refugee students from all over the world. Some of my students speak Arabic. The technology person at our school suggested this site to help with translation. Unfortunately, one of my Arabic students said that when I translated from English to Arabic, it only translated the letters and not the words. In effect, it was useless and meaningless. Is there something different I should be doing?

Can you please fix the Opera compatibility. I cannot believe how ugly and messy it looks like on a browser that is 100% compatible with web standards. You guys should really do your job well. The site is not that hard to design. Seriously.
February 27th, 2009
Hi Kalin,
Thanks for taking some time to throw some feedback at us; I hope you make it back here to find my response.
As far as I can tell, Nice Translator is compatible with Opera 9.62 (this happened in an early December Update, and I recheck compatibility before each update goes live). Since I am unable to reproduce the errors you see, I would appreciate if you could provide me with a screenshot of your issues. You may email it to nicky -at- tumbledesign -dot- com. Any further details would be much appreciated.
We work hard everyday with the intent of a job well done, and so far I am satisfied with both our results and the response we’ve received. I’m sorry that you feel differently, but hopefully we’ll resolve that over the next few days.
All the best!
Nicky Hajal
Tumble Design

p.s.: For what it’s worth, Nice Translator is equally standards compliant… But, design is an art not a standard, sometimes it takes a tad more to get things to behave.

Hello Nice Translator!
Unfortunately, there are some bad translations in the Danish version of the site.
I just want to mention that ‘Auto-detect’ in English is NOT ’selvlært’ in Danish, but ‘Auto-find’.
It an embarrasing translation. The wrong translation ’selvlært’ actually means ’self-taught’ and there I don’t think it is correct, and that you will support me in, that this word isn’t whats supposed to be standing there.

). Overall great site. Thanks!.
March 12th, 2009
This is so great! The best site ever when it comes to translation. Thanks!
March 15th, 2009
I found out (at my first try) that you trqanslate into English from e.g. Lithuanian, then translate the result into the target language (e.g. German). bandeles means indeed rolls in English, but to translate that into Rollen in German is complete nonsense: The word means bread rolls, which is Brötchen. Rollen in German has nothing to do with that, it means rolls in the sense of reels. This approach will make a very high percentage of your translations utter nonsense and unusable
March 15th, 2009
Enter “reel”, NT will autodetect Danish. Try changing that into English. (The message underneath was set to hide, just one grey line, and anything from there was not selectable)

I have an issue with Nice Translator when used in Wordpress. If I place the [ntww] tag in the code the result is the translator will appear where the info in the sidebar ends. That leaves a lot of blank space between where the text leaves off and Nice Translator starts. Google’s version of the Nice Translator does not have this problem when I place it in the code. I’ve tried several possible fixes but the NL always ends up at the bottom of the page where the sidebar widgets end. Any thoughts?
March 31st, 2009
TC, thanks for getting in touch with us.
It would really help me to be able to take a look at your site so I can see what’s going on, if this is at all possible.
I will say, though, that if you’re trying to add the widget on your sidebar, you should use the widget management area (Appearance -> Widgets) and add it as a Wordpress Sidebar Widget.
Let me know how things work out, if you’re still having problems we’ll keep on it.

The Arabic is decent but the Indonesian has many problems – for example, I cannot translate a simple sentence from English into Indonesian such as “She is crazy”…my wife is from Malaysia & since Indonesian is very similar, she noticed that even simple sentences are not being correctly rendered. Is this something that can be corrected? Also, is it possible to add Malay (from Malaysia)?

Hi Nice Translator
I appreciate what you´re doing and it´s a great help to a lot of our students (Danish as a second language). It´s difficult (impossible?) to make it all work without mistakes or misunderstandings (it IS a mashine!) and I guess you´re working hard to improve the programme.
I would like to ask about some languages that you´ve missed – so far:
Turkish and Tamil
- are they coming later?? That would be really nice;-)

NT isn´t displaying pages correctly on monitors with some (likely, less common) native resolutions. Check the Google Ad panel on the home page, for obscuring the NT Menu; on this page, the message-entry box is overlaying the Frequently-Asked-Questions text column. This is with Firefox v2, and a native display resolution of 800×480 (ASUS L701 4G). Please excuse that this information appears in two other places! I want to take my 701 Eee PC to a foreign-language dinner party in three days, with mobile broadband running, so I may speak with my table companions. I think this will generate a lot of interest in NT, and I was hoping it could be displaying its pages correctly, by then.

I appreciate the fact that you have added pinyin to the chinese translations
June 23rd, 2009
I appreciate this Programm, but it would be much interesting to use it if one could have a tool zu add or change translated word, in order to make it appropriate for each special subject.
June 23rd, 2009
I think the addition of pinyin to the Chinese translation was a wonderful addition. I think adding hiragana and/or romaji to the Japanese translations and offering optional romanization of other languages would help those of us trying to learn these languages.

Please put Persian (in listing) where is appropriate.

A lot of thanks to all those who encourage the users to communicate in their relevant required languages on commercial grounds. No, doubt, Nice translator is admirable because of bringing different nationalities of different languages on one platform for more communication. Its efforts should be supported in all sections of lingual departments throughout the world. Using this process, you may earn more for more prosperity.

July 9th, 2009
there are so many mistakes in pronounciation of Chinese characters. those translations are correct, but Pinyin are terrable.
July 12th, 2009
was trying the program about a week ago and it translated english to chineses characters and also hanyu pinyin. but recently the hanyu pinyin was left out, only chinese characters are seen. was hoping u could bring back the hanyu pinyin feature for the english to chinese translation. thanks.
July 14th, 2009
Could you fix so e.g. http://nicetranslator.com/?q=foo would instantly translate “foo”? That would make my day. <3
July 20th, 2009
So far I think NT is very nice
. English is my native language, I know Serbian, Swedish, Russian, French, and a smattering of Estonian. I note that when an English noun is used in apposition, becoming an adjective, as for example in “translation server”, it often gets interpreted as a noun for itself, e.g. in Swedish that becomes “översättning server”, which is just two nouns strung together. That works in English, but not in most other languages I think. The Swedish should be “översättningsserver”, Swedish, like German, concatenates in such cases.

Why can the new Nicetranslator not understand the Danish characters???

Hey
Nice new interface
much better
July 31st, 2009
Please include traditional Chinese as an option; I don’t read simplified Chinese characters, but I do read traditional characters (along with the 22 million+ people in Taiwan). The pinyin (romanized pronounciation of Chinese) option/feature would also be much appreciated for native English speakers such as myself.
Other than that, and the inclusion of an API over GET (as mentioned in other posts), it works great.

Hi there,
I’ve just restarted my machine and NiceTranslator looks different than it did this morning and isn’t working!
I used to have 4 translators running at once (I’m in Istanbul working with Turks, Italians, British and Czech people) – It was brilliantly useful but now I can’t get it to translate a thing!?
July 31st, 2009
Me again – I’ve updated Firefox and can now add translators, but can’t find the Turkish option to translate anymore.
Has it been removed? Can you please put it back? It’s been really useful (helped me buy a fridge and get it delivered between Me (UK) and a shop full of Turks.
Thanks again.

Fantastic Program, it is pretty close on translating English Russian and Russian English but it is not 100% correct. I use it everyday to talk to my Russian Lady, she tells me alot of the words are incorrect. Also there is a problem with it and Internet Explorer 8 under Vista and XP. It loads fine but it does not translate at all.
August 3rd, 2009
I love this program!
But I am curious… Last week it had Hungarian. Now today Hungarian is not on the list. What happened?
August 3rd, 2009
Hello,
Thanks for your work
i enjoy new site-look …. but i’m wondering why, in this new style, there aren’t THAI translation;
in old style there was Thai too….. in fact translation-engine also has thai-dictionary…
i tried to translate from Thai to… other language and it works…. but i can’t translate TO Thai langauge
Will be up-grade this feature?
Great job!!
August 4th, 2009
Now you can not translate at all well from Swedish into English or German. The old version was best! Where are the redesigned for the worse wonder Leif L?
August 5th, 2009
This site is perfect but you shold ad more vocabulary and frases
thank you and add more langauges
August 5th, 2009
I’m sorry, Nicetranslator doesn’t seem to work at all today.
I’m on XP, using firefox 2.5.
I don’t have AJAX blocked (ie it works on the wordbook site)….
I’d recommend re-uploading the old version until this one’s bugs are ironed out.

August 5th, 2009
Have been trying your translator – is good, but the new version is not an improvement on the last I think. In the old one, it did as you said – just start typing and it translated. Now, even though it remembers I need Spanish, I start typing, and often nothing happens. Thought you should know – has become a bit too complicated I think …. but still great when it works
August 5th, 2009
Fantastique et facile d’utilisation. Ceci me permet de communiquer avec mes amis d’Allemagne, de Croatie, et d’Angleterre sans problème et sans connaître leur langue. La traduction est assez littérale mais c’est vraiment génial et de plus gratuit. Merci de mettre de tels sites à disposition sur le net. BRAVO !!!

Hi, This is absolutely fantastic. Suggestion: It would be very useful to have Hungarian translation again, pls. added back HUNGARIAN translation, very important for me. Thanks
August 6th, 2009
To all criticizers :
In order to use an electronic translator with good results, you need to have some basic knowledge of the “destination” language … This seems evident, isn’t it ?
Stop complaining about “wrong” translations and start using your brains and suggest improvements !
To NT developpers :
This is the first translator which makes it possible to chat with my stepfamily in Thailand ! Even if translation is not perfect, it is understandable from both sides …
Fantastic work, knowing how complicated thai language can be !
Continue !
August 6th, 2009
the best,
August 6th, 2009
Why did Thai language disappear from the list ?
August 7th, 2009
The old design was MUCH MUCH better, please go back to it. This new interface is just not as user friendly or hip.
August 7th, 2009
The old Nice Translator is a bit better than the new, cause the new one doesn’t translate it correct all the time just like the old one did. But it is a good tool to translate sentences and words to other different languages.
August 8th, 2009
Hi there,

I hope it will be available soon…

August 10th, 2009

August 13th, 2009
I really enjoy nicetranslator but it stopped working for me after the most recent site layout changes. OS 10.5.7 & Safari 4.0.2 (build 5530.19)…
I click the textbox and it doesnt’ auto-erase. Also, after I type it just keeps thinking instead of translating… even if i try to choose the language first the button does not show the language choices.
firefox 3.5.2. works though….

August 19th, 2009
Hi! This brilliant tool doesn’t work for me any longer as the green advertice plate that starts with “Thumble” in the left side is blocking the text behind. So I can’t choose the language detector if it’s not correct or see the translation word anylonger. I have to go back and use other translation web sites again. Sorry for that…
August 19th, 2009
Hi Mohamed,
It would be great if you could send a screenshot of this problem to nicky [at] tumbledesign [dot] com so I can get a better idea of what’s going wrong.
Thanks!
Nicky
August 19th, 2009
Hi, love this website, very easy to use. Though I think you guys should go back to the old layout. It’s very confusing right now.
August 19th, 2009
Hi Giddy,
We won’t be returning to the old layout for several reasons. However, if you can be more specific about what you like and don’t like about the new layout, then we will be able to include those changes in future updates.
Thanks!
Nicky
August 20th, 2009
http://www.nicetranslator.com is really a good tool. But I still prepfer the former version. In former version, we can write words soon after we visit your home. Now, it’s not more convenient than before!
August 20th, 2009
It would be great if you could also tie into some synonym API/database so that you pick amongst synonyms of the original word.
Wonderful interface!
August 20th, 2009
My friend is Norwegian & sometimes we were stuck to understand each other as I only speak English, she doesn’t speak much English, her written English is better. Nice translator has opened up the possibilities of our great friendship. Grateful thanks.
August 20th, 2009
I agree with Mattias that the green advertise plate that starts with “Thumble” in the left side is blocking the text behind but I’m happy to translate less words, it’s not a problem UNLESS I want English/Norweigen AND French together, it’s cut off. I work around it, I’m just so grateful to be able to communicate better with my new friend.
August 20th, 2009
Sorry I copied & pasted Mattias’ text, it’s TUMBLE, apologies.
August 20th, 2009
Hi Keith,
This should still be the case. As long as you have added translators previously and have cookies enabled, NT will autoload them and you are ready to type as soon as the page loads.
Please get in touch if there are any issues.
Thanks!
Nicky
August 20th, 2009
So happy to hear NT is helping your friendship Janice; we love to hear things like that.
As for your troubles with the footer: are you currently using IE6? If not, what browser/version are you using?
Thanks!
Nicky
August 21st, 2009
is there something go wrong? it not wok all days
August 21st, 2009
Terrefic translator, but sometimes like today, It does not work
August 21st, 2009
Yes, Nicky, IE6 … & I KNOW sometimes it causes problems. I have installed Google Chrome which I should try on your site to maybe alleviate that.
Just now I could not add translators, there was just a buffering moving circle to the far right. Will try later using IE6 & GChrome.
August 21st, 2009
Thanks Janice, I appreciate you taking the time to revisit the site and reply. Let me see what I can do about IE6 (unfortunately my laptop broke so I don’t have access to Windows temporarily).
And, as a web developer, thank you for moving to google chrome!
August 21st, 2009
Google Chrome works Nicky, I should’ve tried that but it’s all new to me & I foget where my husband hides these ‘gadgets’.
Many thanks.
August 21st, 2009
foget ?? I meant FORGET, obviously, lol.
August 22nd, 2009
This is very good work, its works!!!!!
August 22nd, 2009
Hello, the simplicity of the site is wonderful – bravo.
One thing would be great: instead of storing the chosen languages via browser-cookies, is there a possibility to create a permanent link after pressing “done”? An analogy to this concept has been realized at the google-gews-visualizer “newsmap”, where you can – for example – accessing GERMAN, FRENCH & ENGLISH news @ the permanent link [permalink]
http://newsmap.jp/#/b,e,m,n,s,t,w/de,fr,us/
The “…/de,fr,us/” standing of course for the 3 chosen languages. That concept applied to Nicetranslator would be awesome!!!
Thanks a lot!
Cheers Alex
August 23rd, 2009
I have no idea how good the translation is since I couldn’t work out how to use the interface!
There are three pieces of user information required for a translation:
* the text to be translated
* the (source) language the text is written in (it can guess if it wants)
* the target language into which the text is to be translated[/list]
Surely it can’t be hard to make this trivial?
August 23rd, 2009
Hi Frustrated,
Thanks for your feedback. You’re right on the requirements for a translation; which step is it that you are having trouble with?
The process for translating flows from top to bottom on the site:
First, click ‘add translators’ and add at least one translator. These are what you will translate into.
Then, start typing in the large textbox; NT will start translating as you type.
If it seems confused about the language you’re typing, hover over the green tab on the right and specify the source language.
Let me know if you have any further trouble!
All the best,
Nicky
August 23rd, 2009
Thanks Nicky!
So “Add a translator” actually means “Select one or more languages into which you wish your text to be translated” – I wish this was more obvious to the first-time user…
(You can use my wording if you want, no copyright!).
August 25th, 2009
Thank you so much for the Hungarian!
Aniko
August 25th, 2009
Great stuff ! Very userfriendly and better than others available translators. I have recommended this tool to all my friends worldwide. They love it too !
Keep up the good work.

August 25th, 2009
Hi,
I’ve been using this string to open the translater with multiple langauges pre-selected:
http://www.nicetranslator.com?t=Type your text here!&trs=zh,nl,en,fr,de,es
But now it just hangs with the widget on the right going round and round and unable to select any langauges or type any text. Closing the tab in firefox doesn’t fix it although does for IE.
The phrase doesn’t work in either browser.
I assume you changed something recently as this used to work but now actually BREAKS the site.
Any help appreciated.
August 25th, 2009
Hi Richard,
This should be fixed, thanks for letting us know!
-Nicky
August 25th, 2009
Thanks Ronald, we appreciate it!
August 25th, 2009
The newly designed site is much better, but the previous version had a more intuitive operation. Incidentally, this remark is made by means Nicetrasnlator
August 25th, 2009
Hi Julian,
Thanks for your feedback! Can you be more specific about what components are less intuitive? Our intentions with the new design were to fix some parts that we thought were clumsy in the original design. If we can get more specific feedback then we can apply it to future updates.
-Nicky
August 26th, 2009
Hi Nicky,
Thanks for the fix – much appreciated.
It’s a great site and we were sad when it broke
Cheers
Richard
August 27th, 2009
Can you add the Irish language now that it`s available on Google Translate?
August 29th, 2009
Cool, very useful, good job!
Would you please consider adding a configurable shortcut key support? Would expect such a feature to be configured on the add-on options. Or in case I missed it somewhere please let me know.
Normal usage would be:
1. Triple click the paragraph to be translated.
2. Press the user chosen shortcut. For instance ctrl+alt+t.
- Now in lack of that feature I use triple click + right click + mouse click.
- Maybe even better making it a quicker single step if you can implement a quadruple click activation.
A simple scenario I use this one is to look up my Spanish speaking relative’s short comments on picassa.
Another small usability improvement suggestion – at first use I missed seeing that I could pick multiple languages at once. I believe I did not even notice the light gray color indicating one was picked. Maybe make the color of the picked language a little more distinct, darker for instance.
Thanks alot,
Amir
August 29th, 2009
Great comments, Amir, thanks!
I assume you’re talking about the Firefox extension? The next version will absolutely have a keyboard shortcut as well as a few other improvements. I will also try out some different selected language colors.
We really appreciate the feedback!

Where did the English tab go to?
September 1st, 2009
Ignore the last comment–I made a mistake.
September 1st, 2009
I’m really loving how easy to use this website is. Even in the previous iteration, I found it very simple to operate. My g/f said she found it less intuitive, but I explained the “add translators” button to her and it was fine.
One thing I would like to add though; there seems to be a problem with the site when I view it using IE7 on a computer from my work. When I hover over the green bar to select my starting language, the drop down is obscured by the green, “Tumble” bar (or whatever that thing is) and I can’t select any languages that happen to fall underneath it.
This issue may be caused by a lack of Java or Flash functionality on these computers (the configuration is such that going to a flash enabled website crashes the browser) but I can’t know for sure, so I thought I would mention it.
Please keep up the good work
September 1st, 2009
I wanted to add that, not only can I not select any languages under the “Tumble” bar, but I can’t reach any below it either, as the bar breaks contact with the drop down, causing the site to think I moused off of it (closing the drop down).
This makes it impossible to select an input language below Czech.
September 1st, 2009
Sorry for triple post, but after reading someof the other comments, I noticed the user Janice had the same problem as me, caused by IE (albeit version 6, mine is 7).
My exact version of IE7 is 7.0.5730.13 according to the about tab.
Hope that helps.
September 1st, 2009
Please submit your FF extension to babelzilla.org for free localization into other languages
September 2nd, 2009
The phrasing “Add Translators” is kind of strange, and had me confused too at first. I think it would make much more sense for it to say “Translate to:” and show the list without having to click on it, when you don’t have any languages saved. It should say “Add Languages” once you have clicked on “Done”. Also, English should already be added from the start, and there should be red x’s in the right corner to make deleting languages more obvious.
September 2nd, 2009
I meant to say that there should be red x’s in the right corners of the squares of the saved languages/”translators”.
September 2nd, 2009
حنيف قتيبة جرجس
Thanks for the great comments! I like your thoughts about rewording the ‘add translators’ button; the current wording is really a relic of the old design that doesn’t fit anymore. The initial concept for this design had Xs to remove a translator, but I couldn’t come up with an execution that I liked; they took up too much room, mostly. I have some other ideas that I may implement sometime soon.
The issue now is time. We’re working on a few other exciting projects right now and are burning ourselves out with just those. Nevertheless, we will give NT a deserved update as soon as we can!
We really appreciate the feedback, please let us know if you have any further thoughts.

It’s useful when I need fast help with words.
September 3rd, 2009
Well, thanks for this website, it is really helpful sometimes.
September 4th, 2009
Great piece of work! Found it quite helpfull.
Bug: If autodetection of language fails, with ie7 there’s no way to pick one “by hand”, as the list closes as soon as I try to point at an entry.
September 5th, 2009
I just discovered it today and use it mainly for English German translation.
Works great with predictable limitations. If used reasonably it can be a big help.
September 5th, 2009
Great website!
There should be a place where you could suggest words and point out mistakes though.
The translator translates the English word “garters” into the Dutch “kousenband”
But kousenband (lit. stocking band) actually means “yardlong bean”
Garter would translate into “jaretelle”.
Yeah, we stole the word from the French!
Sue us!!

Thanks . this is a very nice translator …..
September 9th, 2009
Very depressing new color scheme…
September 10th, 2009
hi, i am at skl and i use NT for my french and spanish homeworks (the words i dont know) and i get really good mark!!! Annoyingly, i do latin at skl and so i would find it really useful if a Latin translator was added, i know this would be difficult to do as no one really speaks Latin but it would one of the only translators with a proper latin translator… if you need some words i can help out cos ive done latin for 4 years now!!!
September 11th, 2009
Haza,
Since we use the Google API, we have no control of the languages available. They are actively adding languages, though, so I would not be surprised to see Latin on NT in the near future.
Thanks for using NT!

September 14th, 2009
…simply the best I’ve come across!
September 14th, 2009
I could say it was a nice translator. It translate words at different language at the same time. It was great! Some did not give right translation but nice translator do. Keep up the good work guys!
Thank you so much. God Bless
September 14th, 2009
Thank you all for the great comments!

September 19th, 2009
This site is awesome! So easy to use! You should make it into an app for the iphone! I would totally use it.
September 21st, 2009
Hello!
Why does it happen so often, that it doesn’t work? It’s such a good translator, but in DK where I live, i most often, can’t use it.
September 21st, 2009
I think nicetranslator is really good, although the resultus are sometimes not correct. I like it, that you can put whole sentences here to translate!
September 21st, 2009
THis site is really good, it has helped me ALOT with my french homeworks
Thank you for this, SO much better than google translate!!
September 21st, 2009
This is simply the best, fuck the rest (google translate, nada translator, dictionary etc,)
September 21st, 2009
Sofie,
Can you elaborate what goes wrong when it doesn’t work for you? Does the page load and the site not function or does the NT site not load at all? In the past, we had some server troubles as the site grew, but things have been stable lately as far as I know.
Let me know and I’ll do my best to take care of the situation!

great Job…
But one thing I would like to see on this tool would be that the site would remember the dictionaries I choose, so I wouldn’t have to choose them all the time I visit the site.

As long as you have cookies enabled, it should do save the languages you choose.

This is the easier translator I have ever used. I like that I can choose more than one language to translate into. I use it several times a month and I recommend it often. Thank you for your good work and for your continued developments.
October 1st, 2009
maybe its my fault. perhaps for a chat it works well. however, knowing german and italian, I tried it on a commercial letter – the result is quite funny. translation is a hard work!

Bravo car c’est un outil que j’utilise souvent et qui m’apporte beaucoup.

October 10th, 2009
Latin translator too ^^
October 11th, 2009
Wow, I’m astonished! I’ve used many different translators for Japanese, and this is one is as good as all of them together. It is simple, and recognizes the basics of Japanese, making it so perfect for my use. It recognizes what I’m trying to say, instead of translating literally.
THANKS YOU ROCK!
October 12th, 2009
Are there problems??
I have had difficulties with nicetranslator several times now. I´t worked perfekt some months ago.
otherwise this is my no 1 translator.
October 13th, 2009
Love this translator – but add by google in the middle of the page keep you from picking a different language to translate from…
October 14th, 2009
Hi.. this is a very nice tool, but I miss Urdu, Dari and kurdish.
October 14th, 2009
Great site! I love the simplicity of the design and layout which all contribute to its ease of use. Wonderful stuff, well done.
October 14th, 2009
It’s really a helpful translator!! I actually loved it!!! It helps me for everything!! Thanks a lot!!! I’ve finally found the right translator!! Finallyyyyy!!! I appreciate it a lot!! Thanks for all who worked on this!!!
October 18th, 2009
Dear NT Team,
Thank you for giving us this opportunity.
We had already used this precious tool before,
trying to translate some sentences from English
into Czech. It was perfect by then.
Now we would appreciate a formal sentence from
Portuguese into English but nothing has come out…
Any changes of procedures at NT?
October 19th, 2009
I am a Portuguese telco professional working in Prague.
I use this on a dailly basis for Czech and Slovak into english.
Thank you so much!
Its the best and simplest web translator ever!
October 20th, 2009
This is a really good website
-it works!!!
But i would like to see some Latin in here.. I miss the Latin translater -.-
October 20th, 2009
Here is what I put in:
English
I’d like to know if you two girls would like to learn Spanish.
Here is what I got out:
Spanish
Me gustaría saber si dos chicas le gustaría aprender español.
I’m not a native Spanish speaker, but I think I could do better to translate the English as:
Me gustaría saber si vosotros las dos chicas os gustaríais aprender el español.
Now, my translation may not be accurate, but NiceTranslator is not very useful to me if it can’t be relied upon for a simple translation such as this. Comments, please?

October 20th, 2009
Hi Frank,
Thanks for your feedback! It’s true, Nice Translator is, at the end of the day, a machine translator and has its shortcomings. NT is great at capturing the general idea behind most sentences but there’s no way to guarantee it will be fully correct. Since we are using the Google Translation API, there isn’t much we can do to improve the quality of the translations, but Google is continually improving on the service so expect it to get better over time.
In the meantime, use NT for non-mission-critical translations! Enjoy
-Nicky
October 20th, 2009
Nicky,
Thanks for your quick reply! Many times over the past 5 years or so I’ve tried to get a live person at Google to respond to my questions and suggestions, but — NEVER yet have I received ANY evidence that Google is not just a big robot machine and there really are NO LIVE PEOPLE working there!
I get the feeling that YOU are a REAL LIVE PERSON and you really DO care about what your end-users think. So, thanks again for your reply, and I hope that maybe you can get someone at Google (if there really are anything other than bots there) to consider my input above.
Best of luck in your enterprise!
Frank
October 22nd, 2009
It is que best translator I’ve ever seen.
Tranks for it.
October 22nd, 2009
Hi everybody!
Thank you so much for NT! I would like to tell you all that it changed my daily internet moves!
NT is in my favorites and I use it up to 10 times a day, normally.
But I have a question…
When will we have NT for my dear Google Chrome? I would love it!
Thank you guys! And greeting to Bella
Isabel
October 22nd, 2009
Oh! By the way… I forgot to say.
I’m portuguese and I live in Budapest. Nothing’s more difficult than hungarian language so NT is a gorgeous help! And I really LOVE <3 the fact that you can translate it at the same time into several languages… Love it…
Thank you!
October 23rd, 2009
Seriously, this translator is a god-send. I work in political risk and occasionally have to look at untranslated financial documents and this thing just gets it whereas other translators translate the literal meaning instead of the equivalent english finance-term meaning! Amazing job! I’ve got all my colleagues hooked on this thing too now ;p
October 23rd, 2009
So glad you’re finding NT helpful, Joanna. Thanks for sharing it with your colleagues!
-Nicky
October 25th, 2009
Really good translator but I frequently find it hangs and stops translating or doesn’t start in the first place. I have to refresh the page or remove all text and start from scratch, or sometimes just give up. Usually I have English, Greek and German displaying, an example I just tried is translating φλυτζάνια του κάφε, it translates the first two words correctly then either does nothing for κάφε or gets as far as k or translates it as camera which is incorrect.
October 26th, 2009
This is a most excellent translator but there is a bug. It is impossible to choose a language lower on the list than Indonesian because of the green box in the bottom of the screen which will lie itself on top of the list so when you move you mouse over it the list disappears.
October 28th, 2009
wow……..I am so amazed in this site it so cool and really nice….
thank you for making this site……..
I really like it
and hope this site will last forever……….
October 29th, 2009
I was told of this translator by a friend, and I think its great bercause you can see loads of different languages at once
The only suggestion I would like to submit is that it would be even better if there was latin as a language to translate in to. I know that latin is probably not a used language but Ive heard that french and spanish are latin based languages and it would be great to see words translated into latin alongside them
November 3rd, 2009
it very nice and esy to use but if you add URDU language i will very thank full to you
November 3rd, 2009
Really love this translater, pwns both Google Translator and Yahoo Babelfish
Thanks NT!
love!
November 3rd, 2009
Lucy,
We get many requests for Latin, so you are not alone! Since translations are provided by Google, we have no control over the languages available for translation. However, in the past year alone Google has added about 20 languages, so I would not be surprised to see Latin before long.
Thanks for using NT!
-Nicky
November 3rd, 2009
Thank you Tobias, for using NT!
Enjoy,
Nicky
November 3rd, 2009
Great website & easy to use. Some comments & suggestions :
1. Old design was less distracting
2. Detest the new favicon and darker green colour
3. Would be good to have configurable home page
4. Don’t understand why the FF add on gives two options in context menu which both seem to perform the same function.
Will look forward to further developments and in the meantime have recommended it to loads of people.
November 4th, 2009
Hi Richard,
Thanks a lot for your feedback! Here’s how I feel on the same issues:
1. The old design was thrown together very quickly and not particularly well thought out. You’re right, there was definitely more open-space (and really no ads at all, but we gotta eat). The new design was meant to be more cohesive and handle the amount of content we wanted to display better, without taking away from the fact that it is a translator and that should always be its dominant element.
2. We wanted a relaxed, zen vibe. I didn’t like the old color scheme (a bit harsh) and love the new one. It’s impossible to please everyone on colors without making something totally dull and characterless, so I try to do what feels right. Hopefully not liking the new colors won’t take away from your general experience with NT. I agree that the favicon sucks. But when it comes down to making the perfect favicon or working on a new project with significant more impact, I guess I’ve chosen the latter.
3. What else would you like on the homepage? Or would you just like to disable the blog, etc? To me, a configurable homepage doesn’t add much to what the bulk of the site is: a translator. That being said, if you have ideas, I am open-minded and all ears!
4. Agreed, this is fixed in the new version I’m working on (and will have a hot-key, etc.)
I should mention that we have largely moved on to other projects at this point. This doesn’t mean we will never update NT again, just that we aren’t actively making large-scale changes.
Thanks so much for your comments and, more than anything, for sharing Nice Translator!
-Nicky

I’m using this website in Los Angeles, CA to strengthen my Spanish. This is a wonderful website. I’m so impressed. However, PLEASE add Urdu as a language. I will be waiting for this tab, so I can spread the good news. Then your server might crash due to the overload
What a great website, it is the highest quality I’ve seen to date.

Gender differences in enrollement response .
Parents may make different schooling investment in girls and boys either because costs differ or because parents obtain different benefits from educating girls and boys.Differences in costs may not just be differences in fees.Gender –specific costs may reflect differences in school access, the opportunity cost of a boy’s or girl’s time,or any disutility parents suffer because of cultural pressures against sending their daughters to school.
International experience indicates that returns in items of proportional increases to household and wage productivity generally do not differ appreciably by gender even when average wages or patterns of labor participation do.However, differences in how parents assess returns to schooling may also reflect how they benefit from the human capital of their daughters.Their assessment may reflect marriage and residency patterns as well as gender differences in remittances across generations.Nevertheless,Alderman and king indicate for many purposes, including that of the present study,reduced-from models of invesment in schooling are identical, regardless of whether the gender difference in educating reflects differences in costs or differences in how parents value the gains from schooling boys and girls.

uh better better than googletranslate, this helped me and my friends alot with our french homeworkxD
November 8th, 2009
This website is really a nice translator web site.
But i have a comment : I don’t know why when I translate some think from Arabic to English and German. I found that an English ward appears in the German task. so if i want to translate a ward from Arabic to German I translated this ward to English first then from English to German. I so that from Arabic to many languages.
thank you for your great job.
November 10th, 2009
Great Job … It works really well …
November 10th, 2009
I absolutely love your program, and I use it often for communicating with friends in Russia.
Sometimes I get an email or message from a Russian friend that is in this type of characters: Ëþáèìûé ÷åëîâåê ñíîãî çàäåðæèâàåòñÿ …
Your program doesn’t translate them, but for some reason Rustran.com is able to give me a translation. Is it possible for you to add that functionality to Nicetranslator.com?
Thanks for all your efforts
Don

Love Nicetranslator, use it everyday for my Spanish lessons and I get good translation but sometimes I get misses . Example: In spanish” año” means year but ano without the accent on the n means “anus”, as you can see it doesn’t mean the same thing.
If there’s a possibility to add accents to nicetransator , it would be so much easier.here are some samples of what I mean.

Now that Google Translate also has a romanization feature, I hope that this will be added to nicetranslator for all the languages that support it. It is especially useful for character languages like Chinese.
November 18th, 2009
Nice
Use NT a lot, but would be nice if you could improve the italian translator a bit. There are some rookie mistakes and so on.
November 18th, 2009
I really love this site, it saves very much time and boring work.

November 26th, 2009
First of all, i really like this site. It’s great. But I cannot select the original language, because the frame at the bottom.
November 30th, 2009
Great idea, love it, just wish the translations for some languages were readable in my own language aka roman lettering. It would aid greatly in being able to pronounce a word if one could read it in the lettering of their own language. Still I am glad to see there is a simultaneous multi-lingual translation engine available out there now
December 3rd, 2009
Here’s an idea, what about supporting a virtual keyboard for other language scripts. Eg. I want to translate from Urdu to English, but can’t type in Urdu from an English keyboard. So maybe a popup virtual keyboard appears that can allow simple words/sentences in another script. Again, just an idea
December 4th, 2009
I love this website.
It is simple, intuitive, free and it works.
What more could you ask for?
Thanks
December 4th, 2009
Good job, guys!
One problem though: you should have a “clear” botton so you didn’t have to delete every single word youself. Sometimes there can be rather a lot…
December 4th, 2009
Hey Jane,
Just hit the Escape key!

December 8th, 2009
Bug — whenever I type “I’m loving it” (or variations thereof, eg, “I am lovin’ it”, etc.), and tell it to translate from English into Spanish, it says the Spanish verison is exactly the same as the English version. When I start to delete the sentence to type something else, I see flashes of the Spanish translation, but it doesn’t stay for more than a split second before reverting to the English version.
I am using Windows Vista Home Basic and Firefox 3.5.
December 9th, 2009
It’s very good and I use to translate often with it, but don’t work with Chrome and OSX.

It would be nice if it did transliteration as well – e.g. if I select Hindi I get it in Hindi character set.

Some times I writte down words and it just does not do any thing
December 18th, 2009

This is racism and clear message from this racial site. If you try to translate the following sentence from Arabic into other languages, “Palestinian kills Israeli” or “Israeli kills Palestinian” In both cases, you will get the same result, namely: Palestinian kills Israeli or Israeli killed by Palestinian!!!! to prof that just copy the following Phrases one by one and place it in the translator:
فلسطيني يقتل أسرائيلي
أسرائيلي يقتل فلسطيني
in both cases the results are the same “the Israeli is dead”!!!!
Note: Just use the phrase alone without any addition, and to see that the both phrases are not the same use another translation site like (http://translate.google.com/).
Thank you.

Super Génial !!! Merci à ceux qui ont élaboré ce site. Il me permet de dialoguer par écrit avec des amis de Croatie – Suisse – Allemagne – Espagne -Angleterre. Vraiment un gigantesque BRAVO !!!
January 9th, 2010
@Stop This Racism
I apologize for the error in translation. Unfortunately, we use the Google Translation API and do not touch the results so we have no way of correcting it. Not sure how to explain the difference in Google Translation Results but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were more lenient with suggested translations for API services.
Be well,
-Nicky

This is Cool and Great! Tumbled on this site, googling for translation sites that provide dutch into turkish.
It works sound and easy! Perfect I think for the use I’ve got in mind. (That is teaching dutch to people – mostly women – so they can live their life to the full in this country they live now. I volunteer to do that.
I strongly believe speaking the language of the country you live in, helps you getting your feet planted.) (Hope this is not double dutch!
By the way, I am involved in a organisation that have got lots of volunteers all over the city doing what I do.
Thank you for this nicetranslator.

February 7th, 2010
Great site.. looks good.. but one thing that would help me immensely is if you could simply see all languages for a certain word. You can add all languages to the queue manually but it is time-consuming and causes a great deal of lag

It is a very nice tool, fast and effective most of the times, compared to other means of machine translations. I’ve experienced one problem though. Sometimes, the word definition appears for an instant and then dissappears leaving the initial word in its place.

We had already used this very useful tool before. We were delighted with your work.
But today on typing a sentence in Arabic and adding French and English translators we did not have the Arabic sentence translated…
How should I proceed dear Team? I’d appreciate a lot your kind help.
Thank you in advance.
July 11th, 2010
This is a great tool–thanks!
I’m surprised, though, that the list of translated languages does not include Latin. I wish it did!
July 12th, 2010
The best online translator ever. I like it!!!
July 22nd, 2010
First, I would like very much to thank you for such a nice online translator. In fact, it’s a cool and a user friendly translator. It would be more appealing and very very useful, if you include the translation of idiomatic expressions.
Regards

I love it! Im not sure how i could finish all my study without ur translator. Its very good, much better the google!
July 26th, 2010
I love using this translator!! It really does help me out with my Japanese homework and kanji writing. I do have one suggestion though, I think it would be helpful to add the Hiragana above or below the Kanji symbols to help.
August 11th, 2010
briliant !
August 18th, 2010
Great job! The only trouble I found is that it doesn’t work properly when the text has some all-uppercase words, specially with special characters or foreign alphabets.
August 18th, 2010
Thank you so soooo much , it’s really terrific , I love it , I have been searching for sth like that since 5 years !!!
BUt, I can’t translate from English to Greek when I write for example kill , it’s shown kill also in the Greek part although it translates from Greek to English very well.
2nd , I wish you be able to add txt or voice clips as well , and to enable downloading it as well.
Thank you so much , it’s really great.
August 18th, 2010
woow Greek works as well , I think , although the verb ” kill ” doesn’t work XDD
I’m native Arabic speaker.
Anyways , It’s perfect ,I love it , thank u soooo soooo much and I wish for this project all success and developing , if u need any help about Arabic languages , I’M IN SERVICE
August 18th, 2010
Lol, I tried it much more now….
I MUST SAY THAT :
IT’S JUST WHAT I WANTED .

There are no words to thank you for your great job
Thank you so so much ^____^
August 23rd, 2010
amazing, waiting for polish
August 23rd, 2010
It’s very cool.
August 28th, 2010
your translator has something wrong : I usually use it in Dutch English and French to understand better the meaning of the word I type.
Here’s what I found :
(Dutch – English – French)
Geheel – whole – ensemble
“Whole” doesn’t mean “ensemble”, I know it i’m bilingual. “Whole” means more something like “entier” or “entièrement”. “Ensemble” mean “together”, nothing about the word I was at first looking first. I found the right meaning with English.
Please correct if for the next person who would need to check out this word.
August 28th, 2010
I got another mistake to speak of. Same languages :
Rondom – around – tour
“Around” means “autour”; “tour” is “round”
August 28th, 2010
…and again
hij betekent – he means – il veut
Correction :
hij means – il signifie
il veut – he wants

very nice website, easy use and good work
September 2nd, 2010
This is an awesome website, very worthwhile! Keep up the good work.
September 2nd, 2010
I love this translator, it comes in really handy a lot! I have a suggestion: add latin to the list of languages? It may be a dead language, but it would be a wonderful tool.
September 8th, 2010
It’s great that you have the actual symbols of each language appear when it is translated into that language, but it would be nice to have a Roman-alphabet pronunciation of the symbols so that it could be used to speak to someone. I can write “Hello, how are you?” in English and have NT translate it into Japanese, but I can’t then speak the sentence because I can’t actually figure out how to pronounce them.
This and Latin not being one of the translated languages are the main faults of what is a fantastic website!
September 22nd, 2010
Thanks for you add-on i really like it!!!
Just is there a way to resize the interface?
When it pops up i think it is too big!!
I’m using firefox 3.6.10 on Linux Mint my Laptop resolution is 1280×800
October 1st, 2010
Although the application uses the Google Translate engine, some words are not found in NT but can be translated using the native engine. How comes?
October 8th, 2010
I liked your service but since yesterday it doesn’t work anymore. Can’t add any language. What is the matter?
October 8th, 2010
It’s very good, i like this translator.
October 11th, 2010
I really like this site because of how fast it is. But lately, it seems like the site takes forever to load all the time, and sometimes it just doesn’t work at all.
October 11th, 2010
Interesting, Darius – we’ve been making some changes but it should be smooth at this point.
What browser are you using?
Thanks!
October 11th, 2010
Why is it that the phrase “Tiziano Ferro Fan Club” in Italian translates as “Justin Timberlake Fan Club” in English and lots of other languages? It’s funny but confusing!
October 12th, 2010
IT DOESN’T WORK! sucks ..
October 12th, 2010
Hey Gykkan,
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble, can you give us more information about what the problem is?
Thanks!

October 20th, 2010
For the last week or so nicetranslator has not been working for us here in Irtaly. It doesn’t show you the languages selected, doesn’t translate correctly, and sometimes doesn’t respond. Help!
October 20th, 2010
Folks, is the site/software having problems today? I can’t manage to make it work properly today (it did so in the past). I can’t even select the languages to translate into. The button sort of feel “numb” (don’t react). Any idea what the problem is? Only temporary? Thx
October 21st, 2010

October 22nd, 2010
You know, it would be very usefull if we could log in and save our translation profile so we wouldn’t have to choose languages every time. Well, it is just an idea. I know it requires some development and security, but maybe we’ll see it in the future. Bye
October 22nd, 2010
lb, this should be all fixed – if not, email nicky @ tumbledesign . com
October 22nd, 2010
Hi Analia,
If you have cookies enabled, NT will save your last used translators! In the future, we may implement profiles that can be saved longer term.
Thanks for your suggestion!

Hi,
There is a problem with a Dutch to English translation…
“ver van” means “far away” and not “close.”\
love your site!!
November 1st, 2010
By the way, the language that allmost never works, is Danish. If I were you guys, I would try to fix this problem. The idea of a free online dictionary is genius, but it’s got to work, otherwise it’s just a website with shit.
November 9th, 2010
thank you all good and best
November 15th, 2010
Google recently rolled out several languages. When will we see the option for Georgian, Armenian, Azerbaijani and the other new languages? Thank you for this useful tool for comparing and contrasting.
November 15th, 2010
Also, please SEO your site, it’s really hard to find through Google. How about ‘online multiple translator’ and variations. Took me forever to find it after trying some really weird keyword combos.
November 15th, 2010
Thank god for this website!!!
When u forget your german homework, its a lifesaver!!!!
November 20th, 2010
Wow… this is exactly what I was looking for. <3

November 25th, 2010
Hi!
The greatest, ever! Fantastic! But….how do I remove a language from my chosen list?
November 30th, 2010
There are some problems with this translation tool:
1) It is 100% unusable without Javascript.
2) It is mind-bogglingly slow to add multiple languages, due to the Javascript animations used.
Solution to these problems:
Use a standard HTML checklist for each language. Use Javascript for “Select all” and “Select none” shortcuts. All functionality works for all users, but those with Javascript have an easier time selecting all or none.
Cheers.

I love this website. It has been very useful, though I don’t believe I found it all that early on in college…which would have been useful for language lessons. I may have used it though, who knows. The only complaint I have, is that sometimes while entering a sentence, the resulting translation will switch from the translated word to the original language. Say you were translating my mother tongue to italian…it’d be mia madre lingua or something along those lines. Sometimes though, it will show my madre lingua or mia mother lingua. It usually gets like that via edits within an entered sentence that has already been translated. Doesn’t happen that much luckily. Great site nonetheless.
December 5th, 2010
I use this site all the time, at work and at home, whenever I need to communicate with people from different corners of the world! I love it, and my coworkers love it too!
Thank you!
December 7th, 2010
I love this site, but it’s not working with Safari all of the sudden…
December 8th, 2010
How about fixing your websites nøbs
December 8th, 2010
This has been a great tool, and I love it, but it has stopped working. It does not allow me to enter the information on selecting a language to translate to.
December 9th, 2010
I am having the same problem as Kirsten, Been using Nicetranslator regularly with Chrome for over a year. It stopped working with my Chrome about two days ago. I can use it with IE, but would surely like to have it working with Chrome again.
Anyone have a suggestion?

December 9th, 2010

December 10th, 2010
I loved it but I cannot add no more translators on google Chrome !
December 10th, 2010
The chrome problems should be sorted now. Please chime in if you are still having issues. Also, short links once again works for the first time in a long while
December 13th, 2010
the best ! Thank you so much, love your crew. My german homework would be impossible if it not were for nicetranslator.com thank you
December 20th, 2010
This is a very good translating tool, but unfortunately since a couple of days I cannot use it any longer. When I click on “Add Translators” it does not work anymore. Can somebody help me and tell me what do I have to do to use it again. Many thanks in advance for your assistance.
December 30th, 2010
I would like to see the pronunciation in the native (auto-detected) language – so if I am typing in English, and I am English speaking, I would see the English pronunciation of Japanese or Russian or Hebrew (when as an English speaker I might not know how to pronounce Kanji or Cyrillic writings, for example)
January 4th, 2011
I like the website very much.
one thing: The program translated many texts too literally.
January 6th, 2011
It’s so so so easy to use , good ,thanks very much . it will change my life ,i belive!
January 7th, 2011
Love you guys! You’ve made my life so much easier!

I just tried this tool and it’s really fantastic. However, the “Copy” function only works the first time I load the website (in Google Chrome browser). Subsequently, I cannot click on the Copy hyperlink anymore.

I am a keen user of the Nice Translator – but since a week it does not translate on my desktop, when I am entering a text. It works fine on my IPhone – so it must have something to do with my Internet Settings – can I have some advise please.

March 5th, 2011
By far the best translator I’ve seen, and it really comes in handy considering I’m learning Chinese and Japanese at the same time.
If I could only make one request…would it be possible for the Roman-letter equivalents for languages that don’t use them (eg. Pinyan for Chinese)?
It would help even more. I understand Ohayoo gozaimasu well enough, おはよう, not so much
March 19th, 2011
This side is way better than google translate!! but there is still work to do on this page
March 21st, 2011

Great! Thank you for a great, competitive alternative to the translators from big companies that I try to avoid using!! (because of the dangerous power some people can rise to by having big monopolized companies) Now I can use your translator and be glad to be supporting someone else AND enjoy a product thats competitively good! Yay!
Great job, dont go away lol
April 18th, 2011

Good site, I use this instead of other translators
a good supplement for a dictionary
May 8th, 2011
Why the f..k your site is so slow in Chrome and Opera when selecting more than 5-6 languages? And why it’s text-flow in translation results is so ugly? Why can’t it not show language names before text when one don’t need them?
May 12th, 2011
The translator does not translate. Instructions state to add a language and then start typing and Nice Translator does the rest …. only after adding a language and typing in the box, nothing happens.
Chrome
Windows XP
May 24th, 2011
It still doesn’t work – good product, why don’t you fix it??
May 24th, 2011

I use Mozilla Firefox 7.0.1, also with Google Chrome it does not work
October 16th, 2011
Nicky: All of a sudden I can only add two languages, and am told “done”. I need 9 languages to translate into. I am on Internet explorer, windows 7. Please help.
October 16th, 2011
Via http://www.nicetranslator.com/ it doesn’t work well. Via http://nicetranslator.com/blog/about (at the top of the page) it still works.
October 16th, 2011
I have used NT extensively in the past to translate to/from multiple languages when corresponding with my Slovak relatives and various travel related communications in German, Polish and Hungarian.
I had not had occasion to use NT for the past few weeks but when I went to use it yesterday (Oct 15) and again today I found that it no longer worked. I could not add additional translators to the existing Czech and Slovak translators. When I entered text, nothing happened.
I had to use the small translation box above in the blog here.
I am using Firefox 3.5.11 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.11) Gecko/20100701 )
I do hope that you can isolate and correct the problem soon as I find NT to be invaluable when I am planning travel, traveling, or just conversing with relatives and other non-english speaking friends.
Thanks,
Paul

Help……..
, the site does not translate at all today, and all I’m asking is for Dutch/English and English/Dutch translation. Is it a bug or something more technical and difficult? thanks, I enjoy the site and use it quite frequently, have also referred quite a few friends to it. Keep up the good work!
October 17th, 2011

I finally got the Nice Translator to work and it was working great but now there seems to be a bug. The first time I put something in it to translate it works fine, but every time after that it won’t translate the new phrase. Just goes back to the last thing it translated and very often won’t translate to the last five or six languages. It just puts up a list of the other languages I’ve chosen but no translation. Does anybody have a solution for me?
October 18th, 2011
The translation doesn’t work anymore, What’s happened ?
Befor i used daily and now i must go to Google translation, its good but not the seem !
October 18th, 2011
I thought that I was the only one having trouble but something is seriously wrong with the webiste since a day or two!
October 18th, 2011
Doesn`t work anymore… what did you guys do.
October 18th, 2011
I would normally recommend Nice translator as I have found for many years it is the easiest site to use. Unfortunately for the last few weeks I have been unable to use the site as it is not functioning. It detects the language but no longer translates. I have tried to use it on 3 different computers I have in my home. No luck. Could someone tell me whats wrong or fix the site so it works again. I have only seen this happen once before and it lasted 1 day or so..
Thanks.
October 20th, 2011
@all According to Nicky Google caused the problem, as he writes on the home page:
” Do you know someone at Google?
They changed their translation service so that it would now cost $14,000 per month to operate Nice Translator.
We’re thinking about how to move forward.
In the mean-time, if you know anyone on the Translation Team at Google, can you get us in touch?
nicky at tumbledesign dot com, thanks! “
October 22nd, 2011
@all A new notice on the homepage says
” Now using Bing Translate!
We’re going to try out the Bing Microsoft Translation API by Microsoft since we’ve had trouble with Google’s recent changes.
Thanks for your support! “
October 22nd, 2011
Great!!! Nice Translater is working again!!!!
I like to use him for a first translation and I really missed him the last days.
Thanks.
October 24th, 2011
Still no action, I am so disappointed as I have been using Nicetranslator daily and now am running into a brick wall since nothing is forthcoming. Any news regarding this ‘hold up’ ?
Thanks much.
October 28th, 2011
very nice translator tool, thanks
October 28th, 2011
WAY too many bugs in Nice Translator now to even make it usable, much less helpful! Have to find something else.
October 30th, 2011
Sorry, but in my opinion, Google translates better than Bing.
November 4th, 2011
A translation just now: English “bumpy” = German “Bohuslän” ???
))
Google says – http://www.sverigeturism.se/smorgasbord/smorgasbord/provincial/bohuslan/ !
I didn’t ask for geography! Well, now I know at least, that there is a Bohuslän in Sweden!
November 5th, 2011
It don’t ADD translators now. So it’s worse now. Hope can find a better sollution.
November 5th, 2011
Hey Ghost,
I actually just finished writing you a long email explaining the situation were in and that we will be working non stop until NT is back to its former glory. If you don’t see any languages listed at all, that could mean you’ve hit a temporary user limit, which again isn’t us doing that it’s Microsoft and hopefully within the next week we’ll finally get a contract from them that abolishes those limits, but unfortunately although we work weekends they do not. However, if it is a user limit switching browsers or opening an incognito window may trick it into resetting. However this could also be an issue on our side we haven’t yet heard about so please respond to my email with the details of what operating system and browser you’re using.
November 5th, 2011
Thanks to your report Ghost and the help of another user we were able to identify an issue in ie8 which should be fixed. If you can please retry and report back. Thank you for your help
November 10th, 2011
Nice Translator has finally stopped working for me all together. It was nice while it lasted (which wasn’t very long for me). Have to find something else for my translations.
